Two criminals killed in encounter with UP police

Two criminals, wanted in 17 cases and carrying a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 each, were killed today in a police encounter in which three cops were also injured.

Acting on a tip off about presence of dacoits, police teams from Ramnagar and Tikatinagar surrounded the area near Silauti bridge under Ramnagar police station area in the wee hours, Superintendent of Police, V.P Srivasatav said.

The dacoits opened fire on the police party which retaliated in self defence, gunning down Mushir of Unnao and Ibrahim of Kanpur, the SP said.

The station incharge of Tikaitnagar, Krishna Kumar Misra, and SSI Ramnagar, Anurag Upadhaya, received bullet injuries, while constable Ram Krishna Misra of Ramnagar was also hurt, the SP said, adding that all were undergoing treatment in hospital.

 

"A pistol and cartridges have also been seized from the two who were wanted in 17 criminal cases and were carrying a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 each," the SP said.
