In a massive operation, CBI sleuths today arrested two private custom agents on charges of bribery and also carried out raids at the offices and residences of principal commissioner of custom and assistant commissioner here.
Sunil Kumar and Lala Ram were arrested while allegedly demanding Rs 2 lakh as bribe on behalf of custom officers from a complainant who is engaged in business through container depot, CBI's Press Information Officer R K Gaur told PTI on telephone from Delhi.
In a massive operation, raids were also carried out at the offices and residences of Principal Commissioner of Custom P K Jain and Assistant Commissioner Sushil Kumar Pareek here and other locations in Jaipur, Noida and Delhi since yesterday, he said.
In his complaint filed with CBI, the complainant alleged that Jain had demanded the bribe for release of a seized container through Pareek, the then Superintendent Custom, Nathmal, and the two custom agents, the PIO said.
