Two dacoits caught

Two dacoits were caught

while committing dacoity in Chatra village of Dumka district, police today said.

A group of dacoits barged into the house a grocery shop owner, Kanhailal Sheel late last night and started committing dacoity after taking the his family members hostage at gun point, said DySP A K Srivastav.

Someone in the neighbourhood informed the police and a patrolling team reached the spot immediately, Srivastav said adding that the officer-in-charge of Jama police station, Farid Alam along with police force also reached the spot.

The police gheraoed the house of Sheel, which forced the dacoits to opened fire at the policy party, who did not retaliate apprehending that it could harm innocent villagers, he said.
 

The police team, however, managed their way into the house and arrested two while five others escaped firing in the air, Srivastav said.

The arrested persons identified themselves as Rajesh Singh and Uttam Sheel, he said.

Police has begun investigation into the matter and verifying the identity of the duo.

An axe, a dagger and Rs 8000 was recovered from their possession, Srivastav added.
