Two dacoits killed in clash with police

Two alleged dacoits were killed in a clash with policemen on river Matla in South 24 Parganas district early today.

Police said a gang of eight armed dacoits were going in a boat and, acting on a tip off, the police started chasing them in another one on the river at a place near Dongajora under Kultali police station.

The gang members fired from their boat to the policemen who retaliated injuring two who later succumbed in a hospital. They were identified as Rahim Gazi and Abdullah.

The police are searching for the other six who managed to flee, the police said.
