Rahul, 22, and Vikram, 28, were apprehended from west Delhi's Rajouri Garden yesterday on a tip-off, Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V Renganathan said.

The duo worked as daily wage employees with Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and due to insufficient wages they allegedly resorted to chain snatchings, he said.

Lala, the third suspect, who allegedly lured them into crime, is still at large.

"They are working as daily wages employees in MCD. Their area of duty is Mohan Garden in Uttam Nagar. They report for their duty in the morning. The two men earn very less as wages and were not satisfied with their earnings.

"It was Lala who suggested them about snatchings. They spent their earnings from crime either on their girl friends or on branded clothes. Lala also provides them stolen bikes so that one particular motorcycle could not be targeted. The gang used to target girls and women," Renganathan said.
