Two dead, 20 injured as vehicle carrying labourers turn turtle

At least two women labourers were killed and 20 others injured when a mini-truck in which they were travelling turned turtle at Badaghati in Ganjam district of Odisha today.

The vehicle carrying the labourers to Kuhudi area for railway tracks construction work, overturned after a tyre burst, said inspector in-charge of Khallikote police station Bibekanand Swain.

The vehicle was seized, but its driver managed to escape after mishap, he said.

The deceased were identified as Sabitri Pradhan (45) of Kharinipada and Jhunu Pradhan (38) of Kumbidhipa, nearby villages of Khallikote.

The injured were admitted to different hospitals including MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and Khallikote, the police said.
