Two people were killed today after a container-trailer rammed into a pillar in Sewri area here, police said.
The mishap took place around 5.45 am when the driver of the vehicle lost control and dashed it into a pillar at Eastern Freeway on the Maasant road near Cotton Green, a senior police official said.
The cabin of the trailer was completely smashed up and the fire brigade personnel were called to extricate those sitting inside.
Two of the trailers cleaners -- Vishal Rajbhar (19) and Laxmikant Yadav (25) were declared brought dead at the hospital, while the driver, Narendra Yadav, suffered minor injuries, he said.
Police arrested Yadav under section 279 (rash driving), 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
