Two persons have tested positive for dengue in Mizoram out of 46 possible cases this year.

Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) state Nodal Officer Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma said the two persons returning from Kolkata were found to be infected with dengue at the lone Lengpui airport near Aizawl where the state health department is screening passengers suspected of being infected with the disease.

There were reports of suspected dengue cases in different parts of Aizawl and such people were being tested with ELISA reader at the Aizawl Civil Hospital, he said.

The state government, he said, has selected Aizawl Civil Hospital and Lunglei District Hospital in South Mizoram as Sentinel site where ELISA readers were being put up for conducting tests, he said.

Entomological, environmental and epidemiological surveillance were being undertaken to prevent possible spread of dengue in the state, he added.

78 dengue cases have been found in Mizoram since 2012, IDSP officials said.
