Two youths died and 20 others injured in an explosion at a gold ornaments manufacturing unit at Mulangu in the district, police said.
While Sajith (24) of Palakkad died on the spot yesterday, Dhanesh (22), also from Palakkad, succumbed to injuries in the hospital today.
The explosion occurred while transfering cooking gas from a large cylinder to small ones, they said, adding, some the injured were admitted to hospital in a serious condition.
No proper safety precautions were made in the unit located at the top floor of the dwelling place.
A case had been registered against the owner of the unit, police said.
