Two senior officers of the Directorate of Higher Education who allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a professor were arrested by the Thane unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau's (ACB), official sources said today evening.
Thane Division ACB Additional Superintendent of Police Srinivas Ghadge told PTI that the officers had allegedly accepted a bribe from a University of Bombay professor for fixing his pay and promotion.
Panvel-based Divisional Joint Director of Higher Education (Konkan Range) Babasaheb Bheemrao Kadam (57), who is a Class-I officer and Superintendent of the same office Pallavi Rajendra Nakhwa (52), who is a Class-2 officer were arrested by the ACB today.

The aggrieved professor had lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB which caught the Joint Director accepting the bribe money in his office at about 11.30 am, the ACB officer said.
Offences under Sections 7, Section 13(1)(d) and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, have been registered with the local police station, he said.
