Two persons drowned when the car they were travelling in was swept away by a swollen stream in Nainital district, official sources said here today.
The mishap occurred late last night when the car going from Haldwani to Kotbagh in the district skidded off the road and fell in Kuldinala.
The vehicle, with three occupants in it, was washed away by the swollen stream, Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre here said, adding the road was slippery due to rains.
One of the three occupants of the car swam to safety, but two others drowned, it said, adding their bodies have been recovered.
