Two drown, two go missing as fishing boat sinks at Purnagad

Two persons drowned while two others were missing after a fishing boat sank in Purnagad creek near Ratnagiri in coastal Maharashtra early this morning, police said today.

The boat apparently got stranded in the creek amid heavy rains and sank, said a police officer.

The incident came to light when bodies of Hasan Latif Pathan (65) and his brother Zainuddin Latif Pathan (45) washed ashore in the morning.

Local people alerted police, who launched a search operation to trace two others who were on the boat, identified as Abbas Pathan (42) and Savvakar Abdul Bangi.

The search for them was on till evening, the officer said.
