Two drug peddlers arrested in Punjab

Punjab police today arrested two alleged drug peddlers, including a former village head, and recovered 1.5 quintal of poppy husk from their vehicle near Chuharchak village in this district.

Those arrested included former Sarpanch Lachhman Singh of Chuharchak village and Mander Singh also from the same village, police said.

The two accused were arrested from a police naka on the link road leading to Chuharchak village.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both the drug peddlers brought the consignment from Haryana and were on their way to Chuharkchak village to deliver it to their permanent customer, police said, adding that further investigations are on.
