Two drug syndicates busted

Two drug syndicates were busted with the arrest of four alleged drug peddlers, including an Afghan and Nigerian national, and recovery of a total four kg heroin worth Rs 14.5 crore, police said today.

In the first incident, the Special Cell of Delhi Police busted an inter-state narcotic syndicate when it arrested Murad (30) and Babu alias Mantri (30), both residents of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh on Monday. A total of 3 kg heroin worth Rs 12 crore was recovered from the duo.

"Following a tip off that a consignment of drugs will change hands at Khajuri Chowk roundabout beneath Wazirabad flyover, a trap was laid and Babu was apprehended at about 3:00 PM and 2.5 kg heroin was recovered from his possession on Monday," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
 

During interrogation, Babu allegedly disclosed to police that he has been indulging in supply of heroin in Delhi from Rampur UP for last two years. He also disclosed that he was working as carrier of heroin as per directions of Murad, another resident of Rampur, UP.

He also disclosed that it was Murad, who himself came to Delhi and handed over 2.5kg heroin to him and directed the same to be delivered to a receiver as per his directions. In pursuance of disclosure made by Babu, Murad was also traced and apprehended at about 8:45 PM near Majar, Bhajanpura Chowk on the same day and 500 gm heroin was recovered at his instance, police said.
