Two persons were booked today for cheating after they allegedly made a jeweller in Zaveri Bazaar part with gold ornaments worth Rs 13.29 crore under the pretext of selling them for a premium in Hyderabad, police said.

The case was registered against the duo after the jeweller, identified as Dinesh Jain, approached Lokmanya Tilak Marg police station yesterday.

The duo visited Jain and his partner between September 2017 and early this month and lured them with the promise that they will earn a good profit by selling the ornaments in Hyderabad since they are in great demand there, an officer said.

During the period of the last six months, Jain and his partner supplied 46-kg gold ornaments to the two who did not pay any payment against the jewellery, he said quoting the complaint.

A case has been registered against the duo under various sections of the IPC, the officer said.
