Two duped of Rs 7 lakh by fake travel agents

Two persons, in separate incidents, were allegedly duped of Rs seven lakh by fake travel agents here in the district, police said today.

Vikas Deep, a resident of Lodi Chak, had provided Jatpal Singh Rs 3.50 lakh to generate documents for his travel to Australia, they said.

But neither he was sent there nor his money was returned, they said.

In another case, Gagandeep, of Nangal Shama area in Jalandhar alleged that Pritpal Singh took Rs 3.50 lakh, promising to send him to England on student visa.

However, later, nothing was done by the accused in this regard, police said.
 

Police have registered two separate cases in this connection while efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
