Police said the two belong to Meghalaya and had come to Rangiya town for handing over some fake notes to a local gang.
They were picked up from a house at Kanikuchi village under Rangiya police station.
However, they had already finished their transaction with the local gang by the time police reached the spot.
Police are on the look out for the gang which managed to escape with the fake notes.
