Two farmers die in separate incidents in UP

Two farmers lost their lives here in separate incidents late last night, police said today.

In the first instance, which took place near Sidhagar village, a 55-year-old farmer was killed when a speeding motorcycle hit him.

"Manorath was going to his rice field when he was hit by the speeding motorcycle. He died on the spot, while both the motorcycle riders fled from the spot. Police has registered a case in this connection," station head officer Triveni Lal Sen said.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem, while hunt is on for the accused, police said.

In another incident, a 50-year-old farmer died when he came in contact with a high-tension electricity wire late last night.
 

"Sidhari Yadav was working in his farm in Raipur village, when a high tension electricity wire passing through his farm field got damaged, and broke.

"A portion of the high tension wire came in contact with the farmer. He was admitted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries," station head officer Kishori Lal said.
