Two ganja peddlers arrested

Two alleged ganja peddlers, including a woman, were arrested and four kg of the narcotic seized from their possession in Peelamedu in the city today, police said.

Police on a routine patrol noticed the duo moving in a suspicious manner and on search found four kgs of ganja in their possession.

They were identified as Rani, hailing from Sangakiri and staying in Somanur near here, and Murugan, who used to bring ganja from Theni for supply here.

The ganja is meant to be sold for college students, police said adding the woman and the man were arrested and produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody.
 

Based on information provided by them, a search was on for some others involved in ganja trade, police added.
