Additional District and Sessions Judge Hisar, Pradeep Kumar yesterday awarded life term to Devender Chawla of Hansi and Sukhwinder alias Sukha of Dayanand Colony, Hisar.
The court, however, acquitted nine persons due to lack of evidence in the case.
According to the prosecution, Gurvinder Singh was shot dead on September 7, 2009, in front of the main gate of the Central Jail, after which police had registered a case against eleven persons in Civil Lines police station.
During interrogation, Devender Chawla had disclosed to the police that they wanted to kill another jail warder due to enmity, but due to darkness they shot dead Gurvinder Singh by mistake.
