A court in Bundi today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for murdering a local BJP leader in Hindoli town in 2013 over a land dispute, while acquitting three others giving them benefit of doubt.

The district and sessions court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of the two convicts.

Public prosecutor Bhupendra Sahay Saxena said the court sentenced Mahavir Jat and Premshankar Jat, both residents of Hindoli town to life imprisonment for murdering Rajendra Singh, the then head of BJP youth wing of the area.

The court, however, acquitted Moti Jat, Parvat Singh Jat and Satyanarayan Jat giving them benefit of doubt, he said.

A total 23 witnesses and 57 documents were produced before the court during the trail in the case, the public prosecutor said, adding a decision on filing an appeal against the acquittal of the three persons would be taken after receiving a copy of the order from the court.
