Two girls today drowned in river Godavari while they had gone to take bath at Mogilipet village, nearly 90 km from here, police said.
Mallapur police station sub inspector Ch Rajamouli Goud said N Chandana (20) and P Rajeshwari (18) of Mallapur mandal district headquarters drowned while taking bath.
The locals took them to Mallapur hospital where the girls were declared dead, he said, adding their bodies have been sent for post mortem.
A case in this connection has been registered and investigations are underway, the officer said.
