Two gold bars seized from Dubai passenger

Two gold bars, valued at Rs 56 lakh, were seized from a passenger who arrived at the International airport at nearby nedumbassery this morning from Dubai.

The passenger, Sameer Kodiyil, arrived by the Emirates flight at 9.30 AM, customs sources said.

They said the passenger had hidden the gold bars weighing two-kg in his socks after wrapping it in a carbon paper.

This month alone, customs officials have seized nine-kg of gold bars worth Rs 2.52 crore.
