A tehsildar and an additional revenue inspector were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Warangal district of Telangana for allegedly taking bribes.
Panthakanti Manjula, tehsildar and Jarpula Budya, additional revenue inspector posted at Maripeda mandal of Warangal district were trapped last evening at the rented house of tehsildar when they demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively from a complainant for doing an official favour, an ACB release said here today.
"The bribe was sought and taken by the duo from the president of Maripeda Fair Price Shop Dealers Association in exchange of doing an official favour of not harassing the fair price shop dealers on the pretext of frequent inspections of the shops and not to figure out the lapses, commissions and omissions invoking the violation of circulars and Essential Commodities Act," the ACB said.
Both the accused were arrested and produced before First Additional Special Judge in Hyderabad, the release added.
