Two Greyhounds anti-Maoist commandos killed by lightning

Two commandos of Greyhounds, Andhra Pradesh's elite anti-Maoist force, died today, while another was injured, after a bolt of lightning struck them in the forest area of Mahabubnagar district, the police said.

Two deceased commandos were identified as E Sudhakar (35) from Kadapa and K Anil (32) of West Godavari district, while the injured commando is out of danger, the police officer said.

The incident occured near Konapur village of Amangallu mandal of the district at around 4 pm when they were undergoing training, the police said.

"As part of training, around 30 trainees and 15 trainers had come down to Amangallu this afternoon. They were participating in the training when lightning struck three of them, after which they were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. However, two of them died on the way to the hospital," a senior police officer told PTI.
