Two hardcore United Achik Liberation Army (UALA) militants were arrested from a remote village in South West Garo Hills district, a police officer said today.

Acting on a tip off, state police's Swift Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos launched a search operation in Rongsangre village close to Bangladesh border yesterday evening.

"We have arrested two UALA militants while two others managed to escape," Superintendent of Police R Muthu told PTI.

The two militants -- Altat Ch Marak and Diksen M Marak, both hailing from East Garo Hills district -- were being interrogated.

No arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
