Two held at Hyd airport, gold worth Rs 43 lakh seized

Two passengers were arrested by the Customs officials today at international airport at Shamshabad here for allegedly smuggling 1.5 kg gold, worth Rs 43 lakh, officials said.

Abdul Nassar of Kerala and Gulam Jilani of Hyderabad, who landed at the airport from a Dubai flight, were intercepted by Customs-Air Intelligence Unit, officials said.

After checking of their luggage, 1.5 kg gold was found hidden inside car speakers, talcum powder tins, cream boxes, they said, adding both the passengers tried to escape.

But they were caught and arrested, they said.
