Two held for adulteration

Two persons,

including the driver of an oil tanker, were arrested for allegedly adulterating petrol and diesel, at Baunsalundi near Bhanjanagar in Odisha's Ganjam district.

Police also seized a tanker loaded with petroleum products and around 360 litres of blue-coloured kerosene, meant for distribution under public distribution system (PDS).

"The duo was arrested yesterday when the tanker driver was adulterating petroleum products," said Inspector In-Charge of Bhanjanagar police station, A K Sahu.

The accused are Deenabandhu Sahu, the driver, and Keeranajiv Panda, the person who illegally possessed the PDS kerosene, police said. The tanker carried around 8,000 litres of petrol and 4,000 litres of diesel, police said.
 

The petroleum products loaded in Berhampur were being taken to Balangir. On the way, in nexus with the tanker driver, some unscrupulous traders, tried to adulterate the petroleum products, police said. The seized products would be sent for laboratory test, police added.
