Two held for attempting to break open temple hundi in Kalyan

Two persons from Chembur in Mumbai were arrested by Khadakpada police while they allegedly made an attempt to break open the 'hundi' of a temple in Kalyan, police said today.

According to police the duo who were jobless broke into the temple around 4 PM and were making an attempt to break open the cash box of the Mohane-Ganesh Ghat Shiv Mandir.

A cleaning worker who came to the temple for routine work noticed the broken lock and the duo attempting to break the cash box, police said.

When the cleaner questioned them one of them escaped out of the temple while the other one was caught by him and kept in the temple itself, said police.
 

The Village Committee chief was informed who along with other villagers came and traced the other suspect who was hiding in the bushes near the temple.

The two have been produced in the magistrate court today and remanded into judicial custody, police added.
