Two held for duping medical seat aspirant of Rs 76 lakh

Two persons, including a woman, were arrested today for cheating a doctor of Rs 76 lakh after promising to get his son a medical seat in JIPMER, Puducherry, police said.

The duo were arrested in Salem based on a complaint from Ravisudhan, a doctor from Edapadi in that district.

In his complaint, Ravi stated that he was cheated by two persons, Srinath of Coimbatore and Suresh Kumar of Salem, who assured to secure a medical seat for his son in Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry and took Rs 76 lakh from him.

However, they failed to get the seat as promised, police said adding a case was registered against three persons.
 

While Suresh Kumar and Akila have been arrested, a hunt is on for Srinath, police said.
