Two held for forging documents to secure loan

Two persons were today arrested here for forging documents to obtain loan from a bank, police said today.

The accused were identified as R Kanaka Rao (42) of Peda waltair and P Ravi Kumar (43), Arilova police said today.

"Ravi Kumar had obtained general power of attorney from N A Swamy for a piece of land at APSRTC Colony near Madhurwada in 2007. Later, he sold the land to Kanaka Rao in 2015 without proper documentation," ACP (Madhurawada) D Ravi Babu said.

Rao and Ravi Kumar created fake documents of the property by forging the signature of the Tahsildar to obtain loan of Rs 1.7 crore from Union Bank of India, he added.
 

"When the legal advisor of the bank sent the documents to the Revenue Department for verification, the Mandal Revenue Officer Sudhakar Naidu certified that the documents were forged," the ACP added.

The senior officer said that based on the complaint from the bank officials, the duo was arrested.
