Two held for Naxal links

Two persons, including a free-lance journalist, were today arrested near Deori village in Gondia district in Maharashtra for their alleged links with Naxals, police said.

The arrested duo have been identified as Prashant Rahi alias A B Sanglikar (50), a resident of Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, and Prasad alias Vijay Tirki, a resident of Belora in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh.

Rahi is said to be working as a freelance journalist and had earlier worked in Uttarakhand.

The Aheri police had got a tip-off that some Naxals were going to Abuzmad area in Chhattisgarh from Raipur via Deori in Gondia district, following which Gondia police were alerted and the duo were arrested near Deori village.
 

Both of them were produced before a court which remanded them in police custody for 14 days.

Earlier on August 24, three persons found moving in a suspicious manner in Naxal-hit Aheri taluka of Gadchiroli, had been arrested for alleged links with the ultras. One of them, identified as Hem Mishra (32), was a student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi.
