Two persons were arrested for allegedly trying to rape two tribal women here, police said today.
Ramjan Sheikh (40) and Hablu Sheikh (35) entered the farm house of one Rafiq Sheikh and tried to rape two tribal women who have come from other states for field work last night, Superintendent of Police, S M H Mirza said.
As the women fought back and raised an alarm, the accused ran out of the house, but one of them was caught by Additional Superintendent of Police Tarun Haldar, who was on patrol in the area. His interrogation led to the arrest of the other man, Mirza said.
Both the women lodged written complaint to the police last night itself, he said.
