A month after the murder of a Hindu Munnani leader here, two men have been arrested in connection with the case, police said today.

They were arrested here late last night and remanded in judicial custody today, police said.

The duo 25-year-old Kuthputhin, a native of Parangipettai in Cuddalore District and Naseer alias Naseeruddin (44), a resident of Padi here were allegedly involved in the plot to kill the Hindu Munnani leader KPS Suresh Kumar.

They allegedly identified Suresh Kumar to the killers and are suspected to belong to a banned extremist organisation.

On June 18, Suresh Kumar, Tiruvallur District Secretary of the Hindu Munnani was hacked to death in front of his shop close to the busy Ambattur Industrial Estate bus terminus.

Investigation revealed that the killers of Suresh Kumar were enraged by a speech made by him in a public meeting in December last.
