Two persons were arrested today on charge of supplying and possessing contraband drug LSD by the Excise department in Secunderabad, a senior officer said.

Based on a specific information, officials carried out raids and nabbed S Deepak and Anirudh when they were apparently waiting for a customer to hand over the contraband, a senior official said.

The duo were found in possession of 62 units of LSD, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Hyderabad) C Vivekananda Reddy said.

"The duo were procuring LSD through 'dark net' and making payment through a mobile application. They were sent the LSD through a courier," the officer said.

Asked if they had any links with the members of the racket busted by the Excise department on last Sunday, Reddy said that no such connection was found so far.

Deepak and Anirudh were booked under relevant sections of NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

The Excise department till yesterday arrested eight persons after busting the narcotics racket by conducting raids across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The officials have seized 800 'squares' of LSD, each costing Rs 3,000 and and 35 grams of MDMA from the accused.

LSD is sold in tablets or in liquid form, and is known to be one of the most potent 'mood-changing' chemicals while MDMA, commonly known as 'Molly' or 'Ecstasy', is used as a recreational or party drug.
