Two held with 420 kgs of dry ganja

Police today seized a consignment of 420 kgs of dry ganja and arrested two persons suspected to be smuggling the contraband here.

A special team, comprising the personnel of Ravikamatam and Rolugunta police station, also found two pistols and 28 rounds from the duo identified as Tummala Venkateswara Rao (50), a resident of Sujatha Nagar area here, and Amireddi Venkataramana (35) of Ravikamatam mandal, said Kothakota police station inspector H. Malleswara Rao.

He said the contraband is valued at Rs 50 lakh.

According to Rao, the duo procured the weapons from Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh for Rs 70,000.

They were booked under various sections of NDPS Act and under Arms Act.
