Two held with cannabis in Samba

Two persons were arrested with nine kgs of cannabis in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

A police team stopped an apple laden truck that was on its way to Delhi from Kashmir yesterday, a police officer said.

He said that the driver of the truck objected to the checking which made the police suspicious following which the truck was thoroughly checked.

During the course of checking, two sealed bags containing 9 kgs of cannabis were recovered from beneath the seat of the driver, he said.

He said that the truck driver identified as Adil Gani (19) and his accomplice Parvez Ahmed (25) were arrested and booked under various sections of the NDPS Act, adding that further investigations into the matter are going on.
