Two held with leopard skins worth lakhs

Two suspected wildlife smugglers were arrested here today after being found in possession of two leopard skins worth 12 lakhs in the international market, police said.

Padam Singh Bisht and Girish Nautiyal were arrested by the STF following a tip-off that endangered wild animals were being hunted in the forest areas of Uttarkashi and parts of their body being sold at exorbitant prices outside the state, Kotwali police said.

A case has been registered against the duo and they are being interrogated. The car they were using was also seized, police said.
