Two persons were arrested today from the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve area and 15 kg of venison and a country-made gun seized from their possession, police said.

A forester and a few members of anti-poaching squad noticed some persons entering the jungles and informed higher officials in the early hours today.

A search resulted in finding the duo attempting to smuggle out the venison and they were immediately nabbed, police said.

Officials seized a country-made gun, some gun powder and the venison, they said.

They were identified as Mutti Sundaram and Jin Mohanan, both residents of Manvayal at Gudalur, about 70 km from here, and were produced before the local court which remanded them to judicial custody.
