Unidentified persons today kidnapped two high-ranking Pakistan government officials, including a deputy commissioner, in the volatile southwestern Balochistan province.
Abdul Hameed, deputy commissioner of Turbat, and the assistant commissioner of Thab were kidnapped after armed men stopped their convoy near Turbat, Geo News channel reported.
"The two officials were returning from the Pakistan-Iran border near Turbat after attending a meeting when the armed men stopped their cars and took them away in waiting vehicles," the report said.
Balochistan has snowballed into a lawless land with militants and separatists striking at will against security forces and government officials and installations.
