Two home guards personnel were killed and 20 others, including three critically injured, in a grenade explosion at Numaligarh firing range in Assam's Golaghat district, police said today.
The explosion took place last evening when 222 home guards from Golaghat and Jorhat districts were undergoing training. While two personnel were killed on the spot, 20 others were injured, they said.
The condition of three of the injured home guards was critical and they been shifted to Jorhat Medical College Hospital.
The dead and the injured have been identified and an inquiry into the incident has been ordered by the district authorities, police added.
