Two IEDs recovered from Maoist-hit jungles

Two powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were recovered by the security personnel on search operation in Naxal-infested Barigada-Sashank village in Khunti district today, a senior police officer said.

The security personnel comprising of District Armed Police and CRPF were on joint serarch operation launched in view of the ensuing assembly election in naxal-affected areas of the district when they detected the IEDs planted on the kucha road, Superitnendent of Police, Sudarshan Prasad Mandal told newsmen.

Each IED was weighed 20 kgs, he said adding that the explosive was removed and defused by the bomb disposal squad.

Polling for the Khunti assembly seat was slated in the second phase of five-phase poll on 2nd December.
