Two persons, including an infant, were today killed and four children injured in a blast in a slum here, police said.

"The blast took place in the jhuggi of Ishrat, a scrap collector, at Rodi Kutt Mohalla in the morning," Patiala SSP S Boopathi said.

He said two persons -- Mumtiaz, aged about 30, and two-year-old Mohd. Shamir -- were killed and four children, aged between one and 10, injured in the blast.

The injured were undergoing treatment at the government-run Rajindra hospital in Patiala, he said.

The SSP said migrant labourers live in the slum area where the blast occurred.

It was being probed as to what led to the explosion, he said.
