Two insurgents arrested from Manipur

Personnel of the 44th Assam Rifles launched a search operation at Namlee hill area yesterday following reports of movement of insurgents who sneaked into Manipur from Myanmar.

During the search operation, two insurgents identified as Modhu Chandra (37) and Pitanjit (26) were arrested and handed over to the police, the sources said.

One 7.55 mm pistol, two improvised explosive devices containing 100 gm of plastic explosives, two bombs, one Chinese made grenade, four 1.2 volt and one 9 volt batteries and other materials were seized from the two.

Meanwhile, an official report from Chandel district bordering Myanmar said there was a gunbattle between Assam Rifles personnel and insurgents at Sajik Tampak area yesterday.
