Two inter-state robbers arrested

Two persons, who were allegedly involved in over a dozen cases of robbery and burglary in several states and one of them carry a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, have been arrested, police said today.

Following a tip off, Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Shahnawaz Qureshi and Irshad from near Barapula flyover at ring road on Wednesday.

Both the accused hail from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh and Qureshi carries a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, police said.

During interrogation, they confessed to be involved in cases of theft and burglary in several states including Delhi & NCR, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tami Nadu, and Kerala, police said.
 

"Our team got information about Shahnawaz and Irshad, coming to meet their associate near Barapula flyover at ring road. A police team was deployed near the spot. At around 4 PM, they came in a luxury sedan car from Sarai Kale Khan side and were waiting for their associate," said a senior police official.

The police team immediately blocked their way and started checking them and recovered two country made guns with live cartridges from their possession.

After detailed investigation, police recovered implements used for breaking into houses. Police have also seized their second hand Skoda Octavia car which was purchased by Shahnawaz.

According to police, the duo used to travel in fancy cars to avoid checking by security guards deployed at residential colonies.

"During interrogation they revealed that they used luxury car as security guards never stopped their car from entering high profile residential complexes," officer said.
