Two girls died and three persons were injured in a fire, which broke out at Kailas Nagar village in West Champaran district today, official sources said.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Manzar Alam said the fire broke out around noon and spread quickly to engulf a large part of the village gutting around 250 huts.
"Two girls, five-year-old Umravati Kumari and six-year- old Sona Kumari were burnt to death in the fire. Both are daughters of one Kusum Mallah. Property worth several lakh of rupees was also destroyed in the incident," said Alam.
Fire brigade was pressed into service and the fire was controlled by evening. What sparked the fire could not be identified till now.
