"Seven children who were returning home from school in Bajana village accidentally fell into a water-filled pit near JP Ambaldi village," a police official said.
While two of the children drowned, five others have been rescued by locals, he said.
The deceased have been identified as Pankaj Trivedi (12) and Nitin Amaliya (11).
According to police, huge pits have developed in the area due to the ongoing mining work in the vicinity.
All the children were native of JP Ambaldi village of Jam Khambalia taluka here and were studying at a primary school in nearby Bajana village.
