Two persons were killed and 26 others injured in two separate bomb blasts in China today.

Two persons were killed and 25 others injured in an explosion in a passenger bus in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province this evening.

A pregnant woman was among the injured, state-run Xinhua news agency said.

All the injured have been taken to hospital for treatment, police said.

State broadcaster CCTV quoted police as saying that initial investigations seemed to suggest one or more passengers had brought contraband flammable materials on board which led to the explosion and subsequent fire, Hong Kong- based South China Morning Post reported.

Photos posted on the Southern Metropolis Daily's Weibo account showed a man and a woman lying on the ground, seemingly dead, after the bus went up in flames.

It quoted witnesses as saying that many passengers were not able to get off the bus when fire engulfed the vehicle.

In another incident, one person was slightly injured in a bomb blast at the parking lot of Caojiapu Airport of Xining, capital of northwest China's Qinghai province.

The injured person was stated to be a cleaner and sent to a hospital for treatment, Ma Yanqing, head of the airport's operation and management department.

"The operation of the airport is normal now. No flights or passengers have been affected," Ma said.
