Two killed as car falls into a gorge near Nainital

Two persons were killed and three others injured this evening when the car in which they were travelling plunged into a deep gorge at Kilbury, around 18 km from here.

The occupants of the vehicle, all in their twenties hailing from Haldwani, had come to Nainital for the weekend and were on their way back when the accident took place, Circle Officer (city) Vijay Thapa said.

The accident occurred near Kilbury as the car fell into a 300-metre deep gorge, he said.

All of them worked at a hotel in Haldwani, he added.

The deceased have been identified as --Gurmeet (driver) and Saurabh. The injured identified as -- Karan, Manoj and Trilok, were shifted to a Haldwani Hospital, Thapa said.
