Two killed as jeep falls into gorge in Uttarakhand

Two persons were killed and ten others injured when the jeep in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in Chamoli district today.

The incident took place near Durmi village about 20 km away from Chamoli when the jeep, carrying 12 persons, rolled off the road and fell into a gorge killing two persons on the spot, District Disaster Management official Nand Kishore Joshi said.

The passengers were mostly locals.

The jeep was going from Nijmula to Chamoli when the mishap occurred, he said, adding, all the injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
